A new ERASMUS+ partnership to promote metacognition

Duration of the project
The project will run from 1 December 2023 to 30 November 2025.
Project leader and partners
The leader and coordinator of the project is Les Apprimeurs – a publishing agency (France, Paris). The project partners are: SCS LogoPsyCom – education innovation centre (Belgium, Mons), as well as Osnovna Skola Glina – primary school (Croatia, Glina), Arsakeio Primary School of Patras – primary school (Greece, Patras) and Pomeranian Teacher Training Centre in Słupsk (Poland). The diverse composition of the project team will allow us to see the possibilities of using the metacognitive strategies in various educational activities, and above all in working with the pupil/student.
Addressees of the project
The project is addressed to pupils aged 8-12, parents, teachers, headmasters of schools and educational institutions and employees of in-service teacher training centres.
Objectives of the project
The main goal of the CogniQuest project is to support students in developing metacognitive skills and adapting to changes in the labour market.
Metacognition, simply put, is thinking about thinking. It makes learning more effective by understanding what processes take place during learning. Metacognition allows the learner to manage different mental skills.
Metacognition is the ability to self-regulate learning processes. As such, it encompasses a set of intellectual operations related to knowledge, control and regulation of cognitive mechanisms that are involved in the collection, evaluation and production of information by the human being, in short: learning1.
Dedicated teaching materials for students and teachers will be prepared as the project/s output and national events will take place.
The project aims to implement metacognitive strategies by:
- supporting pupils to be responsible, independent and conscious recipients of their learning process
- increasing the knowledge of children and adults about metacognition,
- developing students’ learning skills,
- building self-confidence in students,
- in the long term, to facilitate better access to the labour market for pupils.
